Levagen+® Not Novel
Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA), the active ingredient in Levagen+®, has recently been listed in the EU Novel Food Catalogue as “not novel” for use in food supplements.
This means PEA has recognised evidence of use prior to May 1997 and therefore does not require novel food authorisation for supplement applications in the EU. For formulators and retailers, this provides valuable regulatory clarity around a highly researched bioactive lipid.
